Services
For 16 years EFS has partnered with existing non-profit childcare and preschool centers, working to provide the ingredients needed to help children overcome the handicaps of poverty and illiteracy:
- Professionally trained teachers and caregivers: EFS helps 400 directors and teachers in its 51 centers through training, weekly onsite mentoring and consulting and scholarships toward courses in child development and education.
- Accreditation process: EFS guides affiliate centers through the process to accreditation by an established accrediting organization such as the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) or The National Association of Child Care Professionals (NACCP).
- Quality learning materials and well-run centers: EFS provides field trips, enrichment programs, and targeted financial assistance to improve affiliate centers' programs and facilities.
- Active involvement from parents: EFS will begin a new series of parenting classes and literacy activities for families in fall 2006.
