Reading is Key Event

The Dallas Alumnae Association of Kappa Kappa Gamma and EFS held a special Reading is Key event at EFS affiliate Neighborhood Christian Learning Academy on February 8, 2009. Dallas Mayor Tom Leppert, former Dallas Cowboy Roger Staubach and members of the Dallas police and fire departments read to the many children in attendance. Book bags with literacy and library information as well as other gifts were given to each child. EFS mascot Gus made an appearance to the delight of all.

READ EFS' POSITION ON TEXAS HOUSE BILL 130 AND SENATE BILL 21!

Educational First Steps, National Center for Family Literacy (NCFL) and the Dallas Zoo welcomed a record number of families to the 2008 Literacy Day at the Dallas Zoo. EFS quadrupled its 450 attendee count from last year, proving that the community has decided to Get on the Bus with Gus in support of early childhood education.

Read for the Record 2008

Educational First Steps and American Airlines aligned with Jumpstart for the Dallas launch of Read for the Record on October 2. Jumpstart’s Read for the Record aims to break the world record for the most people reading the same book on the same day.
