Educational First Steps Moves to 2800 Swiss Avenue
Educational First Steps has experienced tremendous growth since moving into the Wilson Historic District in 2004 and was outgrowing the space that Meadows Foundation had granted it. In 2010, EFS asked if Meadows Foundation would consider allowing it to move to a larger building in the district. 2800 Swiss Avenue, also known as the Beilharz House, became available and the Meadows Foundation gave its blessing for EFS to move in November 2010. In doing so, EFS gained an additional 1500 square feet of space.
The Beilharz House was built in 1896 by German Stonemason Theodore Beilharz. It has several unique features including a bow window (similar to a bay window, but rounded) and distinctly different columns on the front and side porches which adds to the whimsical styling of the house. EFS is grateful to the Meadows Foundation for this endorsement of its dedication to the economically disadvantaged children of North Texas.
